How are cheat codes figured out?

I always wondered how people find out or figure out about cheat codes and stuff like easter eggs.I find about 99.999% of these things on the internet or a magazine. But like who figures this stuff up for themselves? How are cheat codes figured out?
i've wondered that before as well. sometimes the people who make the game will provide cheat codes on the website and stuff, but other than that, i think people might have to much time on their hands. How are cheat codes figured out?
Im not sure of that either maybe the game developers say them
Sometimes they are leaked, sometimes when you are the ''official'' strategy guide, the developers give them to the publishers, sometimes it's just from good old trial and error. Only one time have I ever come across a cheat code of my own. I was playing a game called B.O.B. or something, some game about a robot for the SNES. There was a password entering screen and I seriously randomly just entered one nonsensical string like ''asg8wergn'' or something to that effect and I literally started with every weapon in the game for it.Knowing my luck that was my once in a lifetime odds thing happening, rather than winning the lottery...
I believe the developers put them in and then release the info to the press. For cheat devices they have a staff of hackers to crack the game.
well the ''Tips and Tricks'' cheat code magazine got them straight from the developers....other than that it's leaks.
Either they are provided by the developers or they are discovered by hackers.
yeah its what I thought most are too complex to be randomly found.

I liked that game.Anyway, once I found a glitch in San Andreas where I kept floating in the air, higher and higher,'til it got all glitched up.
Cheat codes are used by developers to make testing easier sometimes. They can just type in said code, and poof, God Mode, or All Keys, it makes the game easier to test, as it can be done faster as opposed to the tester having to have to figure out everything which would take much longer...I'm pretty sure that that's true. After a while, they're simply released to the public.

I seriously found the code out by luck... and 2 months later it was published in the Gamepro cheat code section. That coulda been my free T-Shirt.
