To be perfectly honest i'm not blown away by what I have seen of Assassin's Creed so far. Anything new they have shown recently doesn't look that different from what we have seen last year.

The first Prime is one of my favorite games, and the first person controls seem to be shaping up extremely well. Must buy. Halo 3. I've played the others, and this is the last in the trilogy. Even if other games are impressing me much more than Halo 3, at this time, it's still a must play. Super Smash Bros. Brawl. No explanation needed for this one, me thinks. --Maybe list: Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Phantom Hour Glass, Mass Effect.

Including Blacksite: Area 51, Two Worlds, Soul Calibur 4, NFS: Pro Streetand Timeshift.Thank God so many titles like GTA4, Splinter cell: Conviction, Turok, Haze, UT3, Too Human, Alan Wake, etc. have been pushed into Early 2008. My poor bank account can't handle all of the goodness this year has to offer.Do Live Arcade titles count too? Because I have a pretty impressive list of XBLA titles I want as well.

Should developers support the Mac?

I don't. Now don't get me wrong, I was raised on Macs and I appreciate giving mac users a greater choice of games. But there are two main reasons why I think the Mac should not be getting more support from developers and publishers.1) Increased cost of gamesDeveloping for an additional platform like the Mac is going to push up developers' costs and publishers are going to have to pass on these costs to their customers. It doesn't seem likely that they will recoup their investment, given the small userbase of the Mac (compared to the PC and consoles)Why should we have to pay more when games are already pretty expensive?2) Decreased quality of gamesMacs have limited upgradeability with their hardware (you can't change the CPU or the graphics chipset, unless you own a top of the line Mac and how many people do?) and this will affect the quality of games being developed. If a Mac title is being developed at the same time as the PC, the game will have decreased graphics, a weaker engine etc to allow Macs with their inferior hardware (have you seen the spec on an iMac?) to run it. If the Mac platform had the same level of flexibility as the PC, then this wouldn't be a problem. What are your thoughts?Should developers support the Mac?
Mac should support the developers...simple as that. For instance, having upgrade options for your mac etc.Should developers support the Mac?
I highly doubt developing for the Mac will increase cost overall, otherwise developers would not bother doing it in the first place. There's a large Mac userbase and I'm sure devs would like to target it. Can you provide any examples where developing on a Mac has increased the cost of games? Off the top of my head, I know Quake 4, Call of Duty 2 and World of Warcraft are all available for Mac, and the cost of the game was not changed in any way. Also, for point #2 - see Rage. There was a live demo being run on a Mac right beside the PC version and they looked exactly the same.So all in all, I see no downsides to developing for a Mac. If a developer wants to increase their userbase, why not? I highly doubt it will negatively impact the versions on other platforms as you seem to expect.
No game that has ever been developed for a mac have had it's quality reduced. In fact most of them run more stable, Unreal Tourny and WoW are fine examples of this at least for myself. I highly doubt it would raise the cost of production or otherwise console developers would stick to only one platform. And inferior hardware? Geeks will always be geeks and have something powerful in their hands, mainstream users and majority of users wether it's PC or Mac don't have the latest technologies and developers always have that in mind. I have a new Macbook Pro and runs OSX and Windows faster than any machine I've had, it doesn't have the latest video card, but it will last me a couple of years and I'm sure it will run Gears of Wars and Unreal Tournament 3 just as good as any PC, PS3 or Xbox outthere.
If people want to play games on a computer, just get Windows. Seriously.Feel free to flame me. :)
i wanna know what mac is gunna do about direct x 10. some say you wont need for a long time and i can agree with that. but i really want crysis on direct x 10!!!
Why sould Mac owners be left out of the loop? I say let them play games!
i wanna know what mac is gunna do about direct x 10. some say you wont need for a long time and i can agree with that. but i really want crysis on direct x 10!!!
Developers would have to port it over to OpenGL and user whatever else is required to port the sound and controls. I'd like to see more support for the Macs. Sure they may be a bit more limited, but so is the Wii - compared to the 360 and PS3 - and devs have been able to pull off some pretty decent-looking titles on it.

Does anyone know what a prp product purchase is?

I went to Eb games and bought a wireless mike for my 360. Somehow I ended up buying a prp product purchase too. It cost like 9.99. and I feel ripped. What is it exactly? Warrantly? Mail-in rebate? What???Does anyone know what a prp product purchase is?
From my understanding, a prp is a product replacement plan, which I think means that if your product gets damaged within a certain date, they'll replace it for you without charge. Personally, I think it's a scam ( with the exception of the 360 of course).

• Do You Collect Gaming Systems?

I have a Magnivox Odyssey (1972) gaming system for sale on ebay now!
Its the first ever home gaming console. only 100,000 sold, an estimated 5,000 still in existence..a handful of them still have all their games and accessories..i have all the games and accessories. Its rarely used, everything is working and in tip-top shape ( all the cards and money are crisp..and some still in their original rubber banding)

its awesome

[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]
I wanted to but I don't have enough money to get every system and a lot of the good games. Maybe when I'm older but not now.
That thing looks extremely odd. I'd be interested to see how it plays. I consider myself a collector of sorts mainly because i don't flog games or systems but I wouldn't actively buy something I didn't want to play for the sake of my collection.
its actually pretty intrestingyou have this big TV ''screens'' and you put it over your tv, and little lights correspond to the picture and you play the gameand some games have cards you play withits cool

What's the best NFL Blitz game?

I remember playing the original NFL Blitz for PS1/N64 and being totally addicted. I was thinking about picking up a copy but then I realized that there have been half a dozen Blitz games released since then. I was wondering if it would be best to stick to the original or if the sequels have improved at all? Is The League any good? Which ONE is the most entertaining that I should buy? What's the best NFL Blitz game?
Blitz the League is the bestmock sports game since NHL Hitz 2003. Not having the NFL names really helped it to become a good game all on its own. Unfortunatly its not as deep as a Madden or sK sports game with options but it's pretty damn fun.the 360 version doesn't offer too much more than the regular last gen version but it should be pretty cheap to pick up by now

My Perfect Zombie game.

I think my perfect zombie game would be a game with these three modes, Story mode (Co-op or single) a mode where you would just hold in a house against millions upon millions of zombies! (Co-op or single) and some zombies drop different weapons or powerups (Health, Armor, and Ammo.) (Only in the one mode though.) and there could probably be system link 4 player co-op in the mode against the waves of zombies. The catch though is that with the more people you have the more zombies come in the wave. The story would take place in a town. (You can make the name of the town, person, and allies.) (Kind of like a RPG.) It would be a game where you either be in first person or third peson view. It would kind of have rules like The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. If anyone has some type of ideas please let me know because I actually plan on making this one day. Please do leave opinions and such. Oh yeah, the third mode would be a mapmaker I guess. (For deathmatch, Little 8 on 8 or something, Zombies against Human yes?)My Perfect Zombie game.
That sounds like a great idea. The Zombie Survival Guide is one of my favorite books and I think it would be amazing if zombie games stuck to a specific set of rules concerning zombies. IE: headshots kill nomatter what, infection/death with one bite etc. I think it's stupid that zombies are treated just like any other monster in video games and their contagiousness is pretty much disregarded. If only the George A Romero game didn't go bankrupt.... Two games you should look out for are Left 4 Dead, an online zombie coop game coming out for the PC in a few months which is supposed to be one of the best zombie games ever made. And Zombie Panic, a mod for the half-life 2 engine that has similar modes to what you mentioned. But if you ever decided to create a game like you mentioned, I would be glad to offer suggestions and help in any way. My Perfect Zombie game.
Thank you kind sir.
I've got a really good idea that I'm not sharing because I intend on making it someday...sorry. But a zombie shooter/RTS (which is what it sounds like) I think actually has a lot of potential.
Left 4 Dead! Left 4 Dead! Left 4 Dead!
what you do is put on knights armor then take out a chainsaw and you will survive the zombie apacalypse!
I think zombie games would be fun if you are feeling more powerless as you progress. Less weapons, more zombies. That's the way to go. You are more scared when you are running away, instead of fighting head on.
Timesplitters 2 has some modes in it similar to yours.

• I have a problem.

Yes, I have a problem.I for whatever reason have difficutly playing games all the way through. I hardly ever beat games. I usually buy a game with the mindset of ''ok, I'm actually going to beat this one, it should hold my attention long enough.'' But I almost always end up playing a good portion of the game, then I just forget about it. Then I remember it and play a few more days then I forget about it again. Then I remember it again, then I forget about it... etc. At this rate all of my games will be finished by the time I'm 147 years of age.Any tips on how to treat my problem? I have a problem.
I sort of have the same problem. You can try to stop buying new games, which'll kind of force you to play through your current ones or maybe you can stick to playing demos from here on out. :)I have a problem.

I have completed only 2 video games in my entire life: Mario 3 and Beneath A Steel Sky.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I'm trying to finish Counter Strike but i'm stuck. Are the enemies meant to keep respawning forever and ever and ever?
Buy used games, dude I can relate. When it does'nt seem so precious becuase it is or was ''new'', to me it is heaven. Its like a game that is already broken in, and it SAFES $$$
best game ever
One of the best games ever of its time, but not now. But yeah i played those games for hours. They need to do a remake, or maybe some kinda bundle package of the old games with better graphicswhat do you think of streets of rage 1,2,3 ?
streets of rage is one of the most awsome titles for a video game. sounds like a pissed off neighborhood where everyone is infected with the 28 days later virus. those games were so kick ass. instead of just driving to their destination they decide to walk and kill everyone on the way with their bare hands. and they'd even recruite a prize fighting kangaroo. bad ass.
Check out Streets of Rage Remake. It's in my sig.

EDIT: Hmm, it appears the URL no longer links to the download page. I'll have to look into this.

EDIT 2: Try this page: http://bombergames.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1012
the first two are awesome, and still very fun to play now, the 3rd one is a bit too hard... i never finished it, even with a friend i wasnt able to do it..
I only played the first one ( which is most likey the best one) and i must say it reminded me of Golden Axe, but not in the stone age lol I thought it was an amazing game!! One of the best beat 'em up games i played.
I never played 3, but that's what the VC is for :POne is good, great music, me and my bro used to play it all the time. 2 has much better graphics, but the characters aren't as well balanced IMO, the attack distance is shortened and everything feels slower to me.
I remember playing them when I was in Korea many years ago... Maybe I was in the 6th grade? Seven years ago wow. Now that I think about it, all you do is walk around and beat up punk rocks.

I played the first one on Sega CD, and it's been a favourite ever since. The game had really good music and I thought being able to ''choose'' a side at the end of the game was pretty cool at the time.
SoR1 was a great game with good graphics a phenonemal soundtrack (thanks to Yuzo Koshiro), SoR2 was a great game withphenomenal graphics and a good soundtrack (the audio quality seemed lower) and SoR3 was a horrible game with poor graphics and a garbage soundtrack (and a cybernetic old man who is SoR's equivalent of Poochie).SoR1 completely embarrased the lame SNES port of Final Fight (one player only, with Guy chopped and with the women edited out).
Its was very fun back when I was a kid
Streets of Rage 2 is the most pure beat-em-up ever made.

Super Metroid: I cannot wait for this game to release on the VC

It's one of the very few metroid titles I never played. Prime was my introduction to the series and I've played all the games since. So this Metroid retrospective video on gametrailers here is like candy. I was playing Zero mission a couple of hours ago, still such a great game, you can really bomb about the levels, everything is so precise and accurate. Great stuff. So if you owned Super Metroid, what were you memories of playing that game? Super Metroid: I cannot wait for this game to release on the VC

I think a better question is how is Super Metroid still not on the VC? It should have been there since day one.
I think a better question is how is Super Metroid still not on the VC? It should have been there since day one.
I don't own a Wii, but does the VC have the original Metroid up at least?
You've never played it???? Get with the program, GG! :P

Personally I keep my cartridge near and dear to me. :)

Super Metroid is an amazing game. I'll probably buy for the VC when it comes mainly because I lost the actual game :(
I fancy myself a fan of the Metroid franchise, but like GamingGeek, I have never played Super Metroid. I was simply too young to have owned an SNES (I was born the year it launched), and I didn't really feel like buying one when I found out about the VC. So it is by far my most anticipated Virtual Console title.
Super metroid was pure awesomeness. The various worlds were connected so well and the game had no hint system so I really felt accomplishment when I beat it, although I could never get the best ending. :(It has aged very well, if they rereleased it for DS I would buy it in a heartbeat!

I don't own a Wii either. Personally, I'd probably put Super Metroid in the top 5 SNES games of all time, possibly in the top 3 depending on my mood. Super Metroid was huge for me back when it released. I think I was in junior high and I remember just getting sucked in by the whole game. Also, Super Metroid seemed a lot more difficult back then than on subsequent playthroughs. The Ridley fight and the Mother Brain fight were pretty epic for their time. What'd I'd give for a new console Metroid game in that 2d style.
I got to play Super Metroid for like 10 minutes at a friend's house once, and it was incredible.  I am hoping they release this when MP3 comes out... or maybe a week before to get us hyped.

Super Metroid. One of the best games of all time and in my personal top 5 favorite games of all time. The graphics still hold up pretty well today but at the time they were amazing. The control is top notch. Level design and boss fights are spectacular. The music is fantastic. This gameis amongst the pinnacle of 2-D sidescrolling.I envy people like you GG. I would give almost anythingto be able to play this game again for the FIRSTtime. You're in for a real treat. ;)

Whatever happens, I'm curious to see which one is released first.
Yes it makes sense, same as how they released 'the legend of zelda' before 'a link to the past', but in the instance of Super Mario, they didn't wait till all the NES games were out of the way before releasing 'World', so it's anyone's guess really.
Super Metroid was my first Metroid game and by far it's my favorite one. I lost count at how many times I played through it all these years, but it's one of those few old games that I still play today. I loved the graphics, the music really set the mood, and I really enjoyed all the creepy looking boss fights. I've enjoyed most of the other Metroid games, but in my opinion, none of them absorbed me into the game as much as this one (Well, Metroid Prime came close).
The most atmospheric 2d game I've ever played. It really gave you a sense of being alone on an alien planet. The music....still my favorite game music of all time. Graphics that took the snes to it's limits and beyond. You must get it! :D
Super Metroid was the first Metroid game I played and I loved every minute of it. I still think it's by far the best in the series (may have to do with nostaglia too ;) ). I've been waiting for it eversince the VC launched and Nintendo still hasn't made with the goods yet. It's one of the few reasons why I own a Wii (my SNES broke down). If you've never played Super Metroid before, the best part - by far - is the final boss battle. It was one of the first videogame scenes to actually make me feel sad. It also helps a bit if you've played Metroid 1 and 2 prior to Super Metroid because it does make reference to them.

Metal Gear Collection

I've only played the first Metal Gear Solid game recently and feel like playing the rest. Then I heard that they were offering all the games as part of a collection during that 20th anniversary thing. I've looked all over from gamespot.com to amazon, but nobody has an actual listing for it anywhere. Is it Japan-only? How much does it cost? This isn't me just being lazy because I don't want to look it up myself, I just can't find it. Please, for the sake of pete, help a socially awkward friend out.Metal Gear Collection
I'm pretty sure the actual Metal Gear Solid Boxset with all the games isn't out yet, but I could be wrong. Anyways, you should try to pick up some used copies of Metal Gear Solid 2 %26 3, they are wonderful.

Looking for one or two halo 2 teammates

A friend of mine and myself just started playing Live again after the stat reset. We want our old levels back asap. We need one or two players to play on our team and level up with us. It'd be great if you were good at double/quad shots. My friend is sweet at them. Our levels are up to 19-20 right now, but we're aiming for a lot higher. Our old levels were 34 and 36. Post your gamertags and I'll add you.Looking for one or two halo 2 teammates
I would but my 360 is broken, try the Halo 2 forums you'll get more replies there.Looking for one or two halo 2 teammates
If there's nobody at the Halo 3 forum, then your last resort is probably the Xbox forum.
Thanks, guys. I'll check out the other forums.

Jeanne d' Arc demo impressions - a great tactical rpg (56K warning)

Coming off of Rogue Galaxy (which I found underwhelming) my hopes for Jeanne d' Arc weren't all that high, but I decided to preorder it in order to lay hands on the demo and have found it to be quite well done. The character designs and story (what little of it was encapsulated in the demo) were somewhat generic, but the gameplay and level designs are quite impressive and the localization is up to Sony's usual high standards (they have come a long, long way since Legend of Dragoon). I'd say the most interesting gameplay feature is the fact that a couple of the warrior characters can morph into more powerful forms for a brief amount of time, though they can extend that time by killing enemies (which grants them another turn right behind the one they just took). Nice details include impressive looking environments, a lot of control over the camera (you can rotate it and zoom and bit) and the fact character's appearance changes depending on what they have equipped. What was most encouraging was that at the end of the demo, the dying enemy general promised that the final game would be tougher than the demo. I'm almost certainly getting this (since I have a psp now) as I am a fan of Level 5's work (Dark Chronicle, and DQ8). Glad to read favourable gamer's impressions.Sadly I don't think there is a way of getting the demo here in Europe but at least I won't have any trouble playing the full game even if it is never released in Europe (which is what i've been hearing).Rogue Galaxy hasn't been released in EU yet but i was looking forward to it. Do you recommend avoiding it? I could do with saving some money towards other games.Jeanne d' Arc demo impressions - a great tactical rpg (56K warning)

After playing FF 12, I found myself frustrated with the lack of control I had over my teammates in Rogue Galaxy. Sure I wasn't expecting something like FF 12, but I figured I'd atleast have some control over my team like you had in the the Kingdom Hearts games. Sure it wasn't the best around, but you didn't have to do all the minor things yourself(Such as using moves or potions). But back on topic, I have been looking forward to this game ever since I heard it was coming out. And now that I have a PSP I plan on getting the game. Doesn't this come out within a few days of Bioshock? if thats the case I might have to hold off on getting this game for a week or so.
Looks like an awesome game in the vein of the now immortal FF Tactics and Disgaea. I may buy a PSP today for this, thats how big of a fan I am of SRPGS.

Fighters Megamix 2- lol
Fighters Megamix 2, Shenmue 3 and 1%262 plus, jet Set radio. THis list seems to good to be true, but if we get Shenmue 3 ill be the happest man alive, been waiting too long for that game...
Lan Di, you will pay for killing my..er...Ryu Hazuki's father.
Shenmue 3  .... Jetset Radio  . These types of rumors can kill a man if false.
The fact that they listed Shenmue III on there makes me really doubt its authenticity. Let's be realistic here folks, that game is probably never going to see the light of day. Also, a Samba de Amigo title for the PSP of all things was listed. Seeing as how the original Samba de Amigo was based entirely around maracas and a mat I seriously doubt there's a version coming out for a system that couldn't use such a peripheral. Finally that list is too big and grandiose to be true. No company could have that many major titles in development, especially Sega which has been circling the financial drain for the past couple of years. It would be nice if it were true though.
I've been advocating ChuChu Rocket for XBLA for a while now, and it would be awesome if that part of the list is true. That game is made for Live Arcade. Craziest party game ever.
If this rumor is true, I will buy a 360 immediately in order to play Shenmue III and Jet Set Radio Next.
Happy Tree Friends? Whoever made up that list needs to make sure that the games they claim are coming aren't already announced on other platforms. Bioware has already announced a Sonic RPG, but for the DS, not any of the current gen consoles. Also, Alien Syndrome for the Wii and PSP is already out, why would it be at TGS? (unless it is common practice for companies to put game that have been out for a while in expos like this)
Sega's been awfully quiet lately, so hopefully this is true. I'm very close to totally writing them off this gen.
No Panzer Dragoon for 360? :( But at least Shenmue and Jet Set Radio are there.
The site that posted the rumor is just looking for attention. No way in hell is another Space Channel, Shenmue, AND Jet Grind Radio happening.
It's my wet dream, basically (well, put Shenmue 3 on PS3, then it is).I would go absolutely insane if that turned out to be their lineup, but I'm really not holding my breath.
  :shock:If this is true...(which it almost certainly isnt).......:o

Way too good to be true, someone just wants to torture me with these lists.

The Wheelman on PS3, coming out feb 4, 2008, MUST READ THIS!!!

When is this game going to be released? On Gamestop, they said, Febuaury 2, 2008, but on IGN, the people on the Message Boards said that it was going to be released in late 2008. Can you tell me the REAL release date? Thanks in advance!!! ALSO, will everyone be getting this game cause it's so HOT? I'm wondering if I should pre release it now or wait until later to pre release it. AND I don't have the PS3 now, I was thinking of getting that for CHRISTMAS. IF this game is going to be HOT and IF YOU THINK IT WOULD BE SOLD OUT BEFORE I GET MY COPY, i'll get the PS3 for CHRISTMAS. SO, do you think the WHEELMAN is going to be sold out before I get my copy and before they ship out more? I want it NEW, NOT USED, so tell me what I should do!!! Again, thanks in advance!!!!!The Wheelman on PS3, coming out feb 4, 2008, MUST READ THIS!!!

I'm glad it's a sequel and not just a enhanced port. But I'm not to fond of the new cast.I usually like sequels to expand the adventures of the original main characters. After playing over 45~50+ hours into their lives, seeing them merely as supporting casts in the sequel is kind of a bummer. Shining Wind is another example of this.I think that's the difference between how Japanese devs. do sequels compared to Western devs. I usually see Japanese devs doing sequels with a whole new cast while western devs. continue the adventures of the original characters until they kill them off or something. Kind of like how manga is handled vs Marvel comics for example.I like sequels that prolong the original main characters. Only then do I consider it a true sequel. So far, Tales of Symphonia for the Wii looks more like a new Tales game with the original cast as guest stars...I kind of don't like this way of doing sequels, but this is just my own opinion about it.Tales of Symphonia (Wii) Knights of Ratatosk Pics (56k) UPDATED

However, the developers cared so much about how ''gorgeous'' they wanted it to be that they made that stupid decision with the pre-rendered backgrounds. What do you consider next gen?

It always bugs me that many people always call the current gen, next gen. They are still calling ps3 and 360 next gen gaming consoles, does that mean that the ps2 and xbox are still current gen? What do you consider next gen?
well i guess people don't want to start looking 4 or 5 years into the future already, they're fairly new consoles and not everyone has themWhat do you consider next gen?
This is how I consider it:

Next Gen - Now, or to be (360 was out, but PS3 wasn't, PS3 was next gen, and still is, it will be until PS4)Last Gen - PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, GBA

Past Gen - PS, N64, Dreamcast, SNES, NES, anything made before Last Gen
yeah i agree with comando people just arent ready to look into the future yet. They just want to enjoy there gaming consoles now and in 4 years when they get a little lame they will start callin the ps4,xbox 720,and the dic...i mean wii 2 next gen
360 and ps3 are next gen because many of the people who have ps2's or xbox haven't made the leap to 360 or ps3 yet. So xbox, ps2, and gamecube are current gen, while the ps3, 360, and wii are next gen.
I consider the PS4 and other consoles that will be out in 2010-2011ish 'next-gen'. Heck, I just don't use the term at times like now; it's too confusing, and almost nobody is talking about the next generation of consoles at this point.
Viva Pinata and Condemned, they brought a new style of play to the gaming universe.
~-~Once people stop caring if you have all three then it's current gen. But since people still brag about having one of them I think it's ok for people to call it next gen. Just get over it.~-~
Anything not yet released that would appear to potentially offer a significant change in gaming that currently available products that it would compete with cannot easily match. If it's already available for purchase by the average consumer, then it is by definition most assuredly ''current'' generation.
Many people don't have a PS3 or an Xbox 360, so people like me, will call those consoles ''next-gen''. I'm sure the same distinction can't be made for people who own either of the 2 systems. PS2 is still current-gen because games are still coming out for it, and it's not dead yet.
Ps3,360, and the wii are current gen to me.

Making more money than it seems?

I know when people want to see how much money a game has made they obviously look at the sales. But do those sales include blockbuster? Gamefly? The places that rent the game? How much money do the devs earn to let these places rent their game? Making more money than it seems?
Anybody?Making more money than it seems?
I have no idea at all how much they make off places like that. But I presume that they sell the game to the rental place for a higher price and allow them to rent them out.

Anyone else Dissapointed?

Not really just with any specific system, but with games in general. I remember i used to play through my games again and again and again, games like Devil May Cry, Max Payne, the firs God of War. and many others. now it seems that when i get a gae, i only play through it once, i havnt even finished god of war 2 cuz i just got bored. Anyone know if anything might happen in the future to cure this massboredom of games?Anyone else Dissapointed?
I dont know but I always get bored because games drag on too long, why I like shorter games.
I agree about games being too long. I lose interst after a little over 10 hours. I'd rather have a fun 8 hour game that I play through multiple times (like the Ratchet and Clanks) than some 40-60 hour epic.
Long games dont botherme as long as they are good, i played through final fantasy 10 and 8 each about 3 or 4 times
I very rarely play through games repeatedly. In fact I don't think I can give an example other than Gears of War, only because it's short and my friends enjoy playing it on co-op. What systems do you have? There are a few PC games that I could see myself playing through again, such as Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., and Quake 4.
Take a break, pursue other interests, put things in perspective. When you feel compelled to play a game again, then you'll most probably enjoy it. If you never feel compelled to pick up another game then perhaps you should do better things with your time instead of forcing yourself to play games.
I got Ps3 and a PC PC i just play SupCom and Counter strike games and mods, like half life 2 and insurgency is AWESOME but not too many games out for PS3 yet

They have the best value, 13 euros a month and you get even more stuff to do than you have time for.I don't play games over and over again anymore, because I have more money than before. That means more new gaming experiences for me. I rather use my time playing a new game and gaining new experiences than doing the same old things again. And with every new game, our taste for games gets better. Before we were happy with one mediocre games, but over time we want better and more games. If you try to play a game you loved as a kid, you can't understand why you liked it before.

It's called ''getting used to it''. It's natural. The same way you need to drink more and more coffee to get your fix, games are just like that. A long time ago, Doom was exciting, 3D, realistic. But now, you have to play Far Cry to get that same awe.You are simply used to gaming.

|Are we saying you're an expert gamer or your vid was of expert quality? I've seen some ridiculous gameplay footage, but it was just montaged together like a clipshow. Then again, there are some gaming vids where the skills of the person arent amazing, but the actual videos are really cool.
wait, are we talking abuot like a specific game here? or just like in general? 0_o
I think he's saying that there are a lot of videos on Youtube that claim to be ''Expert'' but he is asking if there is criteria for classifying what is truely expert gaming and what is simply overstated self promotion.
well, when you see those videos, they are from player matches usually. They play against split-screeners and people who are straight up garbage that wont play a ranked match due to their trashy skills.

Expert in gaming means for me that the guy knows everything about gaming. He doesn't have to be good. He just has to know it all.You probably mean being ''pro''. For me pro in gaming doesn't mean that you are professional, it just means that you are really good player. And then it's just in the viewer's eye, if the guy is ''pro'' or not.

id Super Pack (from Valve Steam)--Worth getting??

Well, alright, tonight, I'm going to have to make a pretty tough decision. I'm going to have to decide whether to save my remaining $120 for Halo 3 and Mass Effect when they come out, or buy id Super Pack for a little over $60, get Halo 3, and go through some selling on ebay and chores to get Mass Effect on release date. The reason why I say this is a ''challenge'' for me is because I'm only 15 and I have no job, and I don't have a real urge to do a bunch of chores just to save up for a game. And these are the games that the id Super Pack includes:Commander Keen
Doom 3
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil
Doom 2
Ultimate Doom
Final Doom
Heretic: Shadow of the Serpeant Riders
Hexen
Hexen 2
Master Levels for Doom 2
Quake
Quake 2
Quake 2 Mission Pack: Ground Zero
Quake 2 Mission Pack: The Reckoning
Quake 3 Arena
Quake 3 Team Arena
Quake Mission Pack: Scourge of Armagon
Quake Mission Pack: Dissolution of Eternity
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Spear of Destiny
Wolfenstein 3dIt's ALL of those ****cs for only a price of a little over $60, and if these were combined to sell individually, it would cost over $200.So what do you guys think...should I get id Super Pack tonight or not?id Super Pack (from Valve Steam)--Worth getting??
Both Valve's and id's packs are great and really worth of buying, you couldn't really find better value. And everyone knows that those are great games, we can't be too sure about games that aren't out yet. Just look at STALKER, it's a good game, but not as good as everyone expected.I say that get the super pack.id Super Pack (from Valve Steam)--Worth getting??

Maybe they think Quake IV is not that old and might yet shift a few more copies, though Doom3 is not that much older. Still, great package nonetheless. The only annoying thing is having bought some of these games already at full price.
It also doesn't seem to have the expansion to 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein'. Or is that Spear of Destiny?
It also doesn't seem to have the expansion to 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein'. Or is that Spear of Destiny?
Spear of destiny was an expansion for Wolfenstein 3D, and the Return to castle wolfenstein expansion was Enemy Territory but the single player part of that was canned and is now an online only / free game
The ID pack looks pretty damn good. If you haven't played many of the games in it, definitely grab it.
Damn...looks like I have to pick up this collection.

Real-time strategy and First-person shooters...why aren't they popular in Japan?

This is a very interesting quote I found in the Call of Duty 3 review from IGN when a Japanese developer asked this editor why FPSs are so popular in America:''I was recently asked by a Japanese game developer why first-person shooters are so popular in America. Don't we get bored of doing the same thing over and over? At the time I was at a loss for an explanation, but after playing Call of Duty 3 I can answer that question. We don't mind playing scores of shooters because month after month we're presented with games in the genre that up the ante in terms of presentation, mechanics, and overall quality. For example, only a year after Treyarch brought us Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, they're back with another installment in the series. They've added enough to the successful Call of Duty formula that we were happy to once again join the battle for the free world.'' --IGN( http://ps2.ign.com/articles/746/746053p1.html )But I think the real question should be the other way around and it should be the editor asking the Japanese developer, ''Why aren't first-person shooters popular in Japan?'' The answer to that question is something we may never really know. I would even throw in real-time strategy (RTS) games in that mix.I think the whole argument that ''games are hard'' is a cop-out and not the whole truth to why games like these aren't popular in Japan. For example, what about Gundam games? Controlling a Gundam is more complicating than memorizing all the controls for Master Chief. Also, there are tons of anime games I played that had insane control schemes yet they found huge success in the Japanese market. So it's not that games are complicated to why they avoid FPSs and RTSs...I think it's something more than that. Also, the violence issue is also contradicted by Japanese games like Biohazard (Resident Evil), Metal Gear Solid, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, and any Suda 51 game. And anime/manga has tons of violence, so blaming western games for being all about ''killing'' is a little hypocritical, don't you think? The surprising thing is, a lot of well-known and respected Japanese developers are fans of Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, and Starcraft. Maybe it's because they're hardcore gamers at heart, but my point is, if they can like it than I wonder why the average Japanese gamer avoid or ignore these certain western genres?Anyway, just thought I bring up a topic of discussion. I don't have all the answers, but I'm just throwing out possibilites, contradictions, hypocracy, and the ''why'' question to this complicated issue.Real-time strategy and First-person shooters...why aren't they popular in Japan?
The Japanese have a completely different culture and mindset to us westerners.Real-time strategy and First-person shooters...why aren't they popular in Japan?
there's a stigma that if you play FPS's that your a mindless killing machine. That's why alot of FPS fans in japan are closet fans. There's also a lack of unique on the spot strategy in Japan which is why competitive gaming there is almost nil except in game where timing is involved (like fighters, and many of the arcade style music games). RTS games are popular in the US because it builds our stratigic skills. Americans are great at changing their strategy to exploit the enemy while alot of Japan gamers I've seen will come into a game w/ a strategy but never change it, even if they realize they can't win with it.As far as FPS shooters go most Japanese (though they won't say this) are too easily lost in such an open game. In most FPS the goals aren't really that clear and you have to figure them out on your own, and this doesn't work in the Japanese market. They really prefere being told what to do instead of figuring it out. The same thing over and over again is pretty much how older FPSs were though, and even today developers put a stronger emphasis on strategy then variety in FPSs.
I would like to bring up a point in this case.We have 2 distinct families of RPGs, Eastern (Final Fantasy)and Western (Elder Scrolls), althoughI don't have the time so here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_differences_in_role-playing_video_games Anyway, to answer your original question.I think they're not popular in Japan because they are not in the perspective view to match their tastes. I mean, how many notable Japanese made first-person shooters are there? Killer7 for example. Maybe it'sin the market and the Japanese ''have bad taste in gaming''. Oblivion just came out over there. I can't really find an article on why they don't like FPS or RTS that much.
Why don't people in the US like JRPGs? Answering that question may help... although there are a lot of JRPG fans in the US. :?
it's simple... it's because they are racist.just messing around... i just wanted to be the first person in a topic about japanese tastes to say that for a change.the real reason is more than likely... different cultures.
A great part of the American Way has to do with guns. The key weapon of the cowboy is the gun, and we as Americans identify with that weapon and thus identify with shooters. For Japan, ninjas are more common and thus the sword is more recognizable to the Japanese culture. Americans prefer instant and intense action, while the Japanese prefer deeper characters and more drawn out action sequences in JPRGs. Of course, I'm completely generalizing here. I like JRPGs a great deal, and lots of Japanese people enjoy First Person Shooters, but it's just a cultural thing.
Why don't people in the US like JRPGs? Answering that question may help... although there are a lot of JRPG fans in the US. :?
That's not accurate at all. jRPGS are extremely popular in America. The last5 or 6Final Fantasies have all sold over a million copies. Most don't sell quite that well, but I think it's fair to say many do half a million sold pretty easy. I mean take a look at Gamestop and see how many jRPGs there are for the PS2. There's a flood of them. If they weren't popular here, we wouldn't have so many for sale. A better comparison might be something like Dating Sims which while very popular in Japan, rarely see the light of day in America. As for why this is, who knows? Why don't more Americans like to eat raw octopus? Why isn't Kancho a national past-time here? Our cultures are different, and that's what it comes down to. There's no need for everyone to do things the same way and like the same things. It's what makes us look interesting to each other.
The Japanese have a completely different culture and mindset to us westerners.
Yeah, I mean I don't understand it well enough to explain it, but the only thing I can think of is that they aren't so focused on teh person, so games that focus on you being victorious or macho (FPS and to some degree RTS) are not as popular.

Simply put, Americans are more concious with their feeling. When they play a game, they wanna feel like they are in the game rather then playing it. They want realistic enviroment, sorta like virtual world. So to Western game developer, they need to concern about setting the game mood right. Japanese are more focus on gameplay, in a sense of overcoming variety challange. They're well aware that they're playing a game and don't attempt to pretend they are the character they control. This would also explain, why Western RPG like Elder Scroll focus on building a realistic world, but Eastern RPG like DQ and FF more concern about mini game.
This is a hard question to answer, but I'm sure it goes a bit deeper than just acouple Western-created genres. Why don't they buy Western games in general? Even the ones that fall within the genres they supposedly like? It's a question that I doubt any of us here are qualified to answer.
I think that a lack of exposure to such games plays a much bigger role than anything else. FPS and RTS games were, up until only a few years back, predominately a PC-only affair. PC gaming is non-existant in Japan. When first-person shooters started to appear on consoles, the Xbox was home to most of them - a console that was a failure in Japan. The 360 is doing even worse. Most Western developers don't even bother releasing their games in Japan, it just isn't worth the effort. So how are the Japanese supposed to even be aware of these games?

Most devs in the west have never really bothered to publish games in Japan, and even very huge games that were amazing successes over here (GTA: SA, God of War, Oblivion) were localized and published in Japan by other sources (Capcom for GTA and God of War, Spike for Oblivion), with GoW being kind of shocking in that fact, as Sony actually /has/ a Japanese division, and they didn't even bother localizing the games.I don't even think it's a matter of Western devs feeling it isn't worth the effort...since it seems more like, from what I've researched, they've never bothered really trying to break into the market, probably because the returns they get from their current markets are enough to satisfy the budget needs they've had, so there's no need to penetrate the Japanese market.
^^^^^Again. like I said Ask_Story the games don't get released there.
i remember seeing a topic like this on another site, think it was kotaku, and some guy replied 'the japanese like taking turns killing each other' lol.
Do you have ANY idea how often I hear that comment in System Wars?Anyway to answer the question even further for Ask_Story, tell me WHY were Japanese games popular in the West? After the videogame crash all Western devs. did two things.#1 Make games for PC#2 Closed down their studio. So when Nintendo miracally resurrected the home console market, there weren't any third party Western devs, so the Japanese devs saw the oppurunity to publish their titles and suceed. Hell most of the original strong supporters are still big today: Capcom, Konami/Ultra *one company*, Bandai, and Namco. However as time passed the games in the West started being more....well West. The SEGA Genesis had more ''Western titles' such as Licensed and Sports titles. The N64 had many Western games from FPS's, Action, Sim., to Sports. With the Playstation, SONY brought many first party Western developers. Then the Xbox came and brought PC gaming, and well everyone knows the current. Yes Japanese gaming was once popular in the West but now it's almost or maybe even is ''niche''. However I think that's due to 3 things.#1 The Japanese Core Gamer Recession#2 Most Japanese Devs./Publishers are on the DS.#3 The Xbox 360 is the current market leader. However I predict that in the coming years we will see strong Japaense developers and publishers come strong *PM me if your intrested since I don't want to go off-topic*So that's why Japanese games are even mentioned here, hell do you remember the Atari ages when everything had to be serious? MISSILE COMMAND! SPACE INVADERS! TRON! Yes there were some Japanese games such as Frogger and Pacman but you really couldn't tell to much of a difference and thought of it as ''cartoony''. Actually the majority of Japanese devs. then made games solely for the Western audience *Taito's a big one*.Hey want a stranger question? How come in Japan, American movies take the top spots in the box office, but you never see a Japanese *actually foreign* film in general doing well in America?
That's not accurate at all. jRPGS are extremely popular in America. Bob Hoskins claims the worst movie he ever did was Super Mario Bros.

...no duh. But it's funny how he talks about it. Here's what he had to say about it:http://kotaku.com/gaming/method-acting/bob-hoskins-the-worst-thing-i-ever-did-super-mario-brothers-286031.phpBob Hoskins: ''The Worst Thing I Ever Did? Super Mario Brothers.'' U.K. website Guardian Unlimited has posted an interview with uber talent Bob Hoskins. Amid an interview discussing his career, the pitfalls of getting too into your character and copious f-bombs, Hoskins talks (albiet briefly) about his horrific experience making the Super Mario Brothers movie. so horrific in fact, that he lists it as the worst thing he's ever done. (I wonder if John Leguizamo can say the same?) He accepts there have been flops, and films he's detested, but that's the nature of the game.
''The worst thing I ever did? Super Mario Brothers. It was a f****' nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! F*****' nightmare. F*****' idiots.''
Something tells me method acting didn't enter into his performance on that one. Although, the thought of Bob Hoskins jumping on heads and eating mushrooms on his days off is an amusing one.Has anyone ever wondered how these amatuer filmmakers even get jobs or movie deals? And it still goes on today, with Paul WS Anderson, Uwe Boll, and probably others who are trying to get in on the game. Horrible. No wonder video game movies almost always stink it hard at the box-office. And just for fun, here's a funny review from a movie critic on the Dead or Alive Movie:''The action has more to do with digital effects than true martial artistry, and is targeted squarely at adolescent boys too young to rent porn and gamers too lazy to yank their own joysticks.'' --Critic Ken Fox, TVguide.com (EGM issue 219, pp. 24)Poor girls...they'd do anything to get their 15 minutes of movie fame...and I mean, ANYTHING. :roll:Bob Hoskins claims the worst movie he ever did was Super Mario Bros.

Best movie evar.
When I read the title of this thread I though he said it was the worst movie he was ever in. What he really meant was it was the worst movie making experience he ever had.I was going to point out that he must have forgotten that he was in Spice World.... LOLI don't think Super Mario Brothers was that bad a movie but I know I'm in the minority.
Nah, Super Mario Brothers was good as a kid watching it. But im sure that if I watched it now id laugh at how crap it is.
Lol it was definitely one of the worst movies I have ever seen, very poor movie in my opinion.
I always wondered how they got Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper to star in that movie. They must have really needed the money.
Wow. I have never heard of a Super Mario Bros. movie, but it sounds rubbish.
You know, I agree with Bob on this one. :P
I really liked that movie.. in its own cheesy way :D
I said quite a few F-bombs myself while watching that awful, awfulmovie. Thankfully, I saw it for free. Still, why would Nintendo allow someone tobutcher their best characters like that? Why?
I'm fairly confident that NO ONE will disagree with him here. And man, I remember a 20 page feature story on this in Gamepro on how they made the set and sprayed actual mold that grew or something like that to make the ''mushrooms''.Where does this movie rate in the worst movies of all time?
Yeah that was a crap movie, but for some reason you just have to see it once. Just out of curiosity I guess.

has there ever been a game where

critics such as GS and IGN gave a game a good rating but most gamers didn't care for it or gave it a bad score? I noticed on average gamers give higher scores than sites do so i was just curious.has there ever been a game where
I heard Perfect Dark Zero wasn't as good as Gamespot said it was. I don't have an Xbox 360 nor have I ever played the game so I don't really have a solid opinion as to whether this is true or not.has there ever been a game where
A lot of that is due to the fact some some gamer reviews are polar exaggerated. And by that, you'll see reviews with 10s or 1s in most if not all categories, backed up only with a short paragraph of rubbish.
Yeah, most of the user reviews that are radical (like many 1s or 10s) are just fanboys or haters trying to change the view of the game as much as possible.
On Gamestats.com, an average of a bunch of game critics, I think Gears of War scored less among the gamers. Gears of War does kick ass though.
Final Fantasy VIII comes to mind. At the time, the critics loved it, and you can see that the score given on this site is very high (9.5, I believe) but a lot of people really hate it. I've never quite understood why, it's one of my favorites in the series.
yeah I thought VIII was great
many times when that happened. Fans said pdz was awesome, it only got a 9. Fans said FF VII was the best in the series and critics like VIII better.
critics such as GS and IGN gave a game a good rating but most gamers didn't care for it or gave it a bad score? I noticed on average gamers give higher scores than sites do so i was just curious.
perfect dark zero, also black and white comes to mind.
In terms of what I've read most on various forums, in addition to my own experience.....Gamespot gave the original Deus Ex an 8.2....certainly not a bad score, but many feel Deus Ex is one of the greatest games ever created, and definitely far more deserving of the score Gamespot gave it, especially with many other respectable places giving it GOTY back in 2000.Another example is Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines....Gamespot gave it like a 7.7, but many PC RPG fans consider it one of the best and most stylish RPG games released in the past 5 years, with many who have actually experienced it putting the quality of it's content right up there with the likes of KOTOR. At the same time the game was released with some major bugs that really effected gameplay, so in a way it's understandable why Gamespot gave it a low score, however, many of the bugs and problems have now been fixed due to both an official and numerous community made patches.....Vampire - Bloodlines is now considered a cult favorite RPG, and practically a must buy for any fan of Western RPGs....right up there with other RPG cult clasics like Planescape Torment.Games like Beyond Good %26 Evil, ICO, and Shenmue I %26 II are other examples of games that get mentioned a lot of deserving higher scores then what they recieved on Gamespot and have gone on to be considered cult favs. On the flip side, many felt Perfect Dark Zero didn't deserve the 9.0 that Gamespot gave it and think that Gamespot highly overrated that game.....I mean, the average critic score was an 8.1 (far lower then Gamespot's 9.0), in addition, the average user score here at Gamespot was an 8.5, again, quite low, especially considering user scores are usually a lot higher then what an editor score usually is. The Perfect 10 for THPS3 is another score that gets a lot of flack as being overrated....though if you read Gamespot's review policy you might see how they came to that score, at the same time, many felt that out of the many games released over the years, there were many others that were far more deserving of such a rare score. In addition, many felt the 9.4 for Halo 2 was overrated, and actually quite contradictory considering that just a couple of months later Gamespot actually nominated it for the Biggest Disappointment during the Best %26 Worst Awards of the Year....some had the sentiment that if a game is gonna be cited as being one of the biggest disappointments of the year, then it shouldn't have gotten such a high score in the first place...and vice versa. There are other examples....but those are the ones I see commonly stand out.

Poor pacing of plot, poor plot in general, poor storytelling, unbalanced magic system and exploitable GF system, etc etc etc. It is really unfortunate though. FFVIII had most potential out of all FF game I've ever played. If they ended the game at Disc 1, even though it was cliff hanger and it was extremely short, I would've said it was greatest FF ever made.... too bad disc 2, 3 and 4 exists.
I know this is a bit off topic but Final Fantasy VIII is the last Final Fantasy game I ever played... that game ruined the series for me
psychonuants a great game just not many people bought it the units were just in three digits

Prince of Persia Next-Gen

The plagued prince returns in his first next-gen adventure. Ubisoft has planned a number of adjustments to the series, with a new design for the prince, a new armored gauntlet with incredible powers, and a renewed focus on platforming and physical challenges rather than fighting. what u think?NOTE: This game has been confirmed as a title in production, but exact platform releases have not been confirmed.Prince of Persia Next-Gen
I want Sands of Time dreamy like PoP not dark like the other two.Prince of Persia Next-Gen
I always liked the combat in the POP games, and hope they don't totally neglect it for more jumping/climbing puzzles.
Sounds great.

DragonForce in GHIII - AKA 'The Nature of Music/Rhythm Games'

Well, with various news reagarding Guitar Hero III and such, I stumbled upon this video of one of the songs planned for the game:Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames (Spoilers if you don't want the chart spoiled, though it isn't the full song)The main thing that it indicates is simply how GHIII is going the route that pretty much any music/rhythm game series tends to go down before a long amount of time - getting ridiculously fast/technical. Now, granted, for a game like Guitar Hero, this is sort of a natural path to go down, as there really couldn't be a such thing as a 'performance frees-tyle' format of GH, like there was in the DDR scene before the franchise became more strictly technical over the past few years, at times requiring reflexes and memorzation the likes would only be found for people playing through various Shoot 'em Ups and such beforehand.Granted, there is one thing that has been neat about the DDR series, and GH for that matter. Even though these games will likely continue to get faster and more technical, at the very least they offer a range of lower difficulties for most all of the songs involved, to prevent the games from closing themselves off into a narrow niche of extremely dedicated players. This means, at the very least, that newer/less serious players will be able to keep up with newer versions of the game right along with the more dedicated players...but there's one slight issue with the whole matter. How long can these companies keep raising the bar until there's a point of pure and simple physical impossibility, and people on the more 'hardcore' side of things simply stop caring giving how ridiculous the difficulty becomes? Perhaps it won't happen, but it's been a matter I've had issue with personally ever since I found it physically impossible for me to beat the likes of ''Max 300'' back when DDR 6th mix first came out...and have found myself spending less and less time on the game ever since over the years.Feel free to toss in thoughts on the subject, or simply comment on the video here, folks. DragonForce in GHIII - AKA 'The Nature of Music/Rhythm Games'
Well, as much as I'm really pleased with that updated song list from GHIII, given my musical taste, the issue you bring to the table is an interesting one. I love DragonForce, but I too think that this is a bit too much, both for the people that are entering the rhythm games arena, and for the people that doesn't follow this type of music. It is, perhaps, a bit too complex, you might as well throw in some Malmsteen tracks. Knowing Herman Li and Sam Totman's musical prowess, it's a safe bet that this will be the most difficult song of the entire set.Fortunately, the song list as a whole looks really balanced, and this song might just show the peak of technical performance in this type of games. Let's just not hope the subgenre as a whole starts drawing the same criticism that bands such as DragonForce and musicians as Y. Malsmteen, namely, that they favor technicality over feel and soul. I can't believe they have DragonForce in Guitar Hero III... that's awesome.
I understand the points you're bringing up, but my concerns stem more from the repercussions on things like the community around the game, like what happened in DDR during the 6th mix phase and further on...When the elitism got really, really over the top, at least from my viewpoint. Then again, I never really like playing games competitvely, so perhaps I should simply avoid the tournament crowd to avoid such mentalities, personally. :P

But I don't think (or at least don't expect to) the whole subgenre will go down that route, shaping the community with over the top, increasingly complex songs. This is a game where music plays a bigger role, in my opinion, than DDR, where the physical intricacies of the gameplay mechanics overcome anything else. Whenever the developers start favoring more the technical aspect, I believe the game will lose most of its appeal, which is to feel as an accomplished musician, without devoting hours upon hours of practice. Hopefully, the game will keep a balanced tone, with enough room both for the people that want to push the title to its limit, as well as for the people that like to jam for a little while.
i honestly don't think Dragonforce will as hard as everyone thinks, i think it will be just as hard (maybe a bit harder) than Miserlou. Dragonforces songs are really fast, but not all that complex. the hardest part will be the solo.
Then again, a solo comprises about 70% of each Dragonforce song. :P

I play a lot of games and don't really dedicate my time to one game. I love GH, but I can't play on expert, so even if these games do become impossible to master, it's going to be impossible for me either way. It's just fun.
Hmm I can see it being a stumblin block for some, but thats why there are different difficultys.... I mean there are still songs in GH2 I cant beat in expert (ok a lot of songs) but thats EXPERT. The games satisfaction comes with mastering these songs, adds a lot of replay value to the package as well as that huge sense of accomplishment from growing and learning. I dont feel particularily bad that I can beat the game on expert yet I just keep plugging away here and there and have fun with the game cause I love the music.

I say man up, baer up and strap down the axe!

GME says: Guitar Hero III really needs some Mastodon
I've always liked technical players in metal, but I can't get into Dragonforce. They seem like a band that just tries too hard to be super-shred, and forget to give it a touch of personality, or ''soul''. The guitar players can blaze for sure, but so do other players who have more feel, like Vai or Petrucci.I also can't stand the singer, haha. He's one of these dudes that seems to have just wakened from a coma he got in the mid-80's, and thinks its still cool to be all dramatic like he's slaying a dragon in Middle Earth. :lol:I'm honestly surprised they are in GH3. I'd think there would be other bands who've been around for longer, who would have been picked first.
