Super Metroid: I cannot wait for this game to release on the VC

It's one of the very few metroid titles I never played. Prime was my introduction to the series and I've played all the games since. So this Metroid retrospective video on gametrailers here is like candy. I was playing Zero mission a couple of hours ago, still such a great game, you can really bomb about the levels, everything is so precise and accurate. Great stuff. So if you owned Super Metroid, what were you memories of playing that game? Super Metroid: I cannot wait for this game to release on the VC

By far my favorite Metroid game, and other than Symphony of the Night, the best 2D scrolling game I know. It's been a while since I played the game, but I have fond memories of it, and there's no doubt that everyone with a Wii should buy it once it's released on VC. Nintendo when they were at their best.Super Metroid: I cannot wait for this game to release on the VC
I think a better question is how is Super Metroid still not on the VC? It should have been there since day one.

You've never played it???? Get with the program, GG! :P

Personally I keep my cartridge near and dear to me. :)

Super Metroid is an amazing game. I'll probably buy for the VC when it comes mainly because I lost the actual game :(
I fancy myself a fan of the Metroid franchise, but like GamingGeek, I have never played Super Metroid. I was simply too young to have owned an SNES (I was born the year it launched), and I didn't really feel like buying one when I found out about the VC. So it is by far my most anticipated Virtual Console title.
Super metroid was pure awesomeness. The various worlds were connected so well and the game had no hint system so I really felt accomplishment when I beat it, although I could never get the best ending. :(It has aged very well, if they rereleased it for DS I would buy it in a heartbeat!

I don't own a Wii either. Personally, I'd probably put Super Metroid in the top 5 SNES games of all time, possibly in the top 3 depending on my mood. Super Metroid was huge for me back when it released. I think I was in junior high and I remember just getting sucked in by the whole game. Also, Super Metroid seemed a lot more difficult back then than on subsequent playthroughs. The Ridley fight and the Mother Brain fight were pretty epic for their time. What'd I'd give for a new console Metroid game in that 2d style.
I got to play Super Metroid for like 10 minutes at a friend's house once, and it was incredible.  I am hoping they release this when MP3 comes out... or maybe a week before to get us hyped.

I'd put money on Metroid being released before Super Metroid, just because the original would seem way too archaic if the SNES one came out first. Still, it's pretty crazy that Metroid isn't on VC yet, I'm surprised.
Super Metroid. One of the best games of all time and in my personal top 5 favorite games of all time. The graphics still hold up pretty well today but at the time they were amazing. The control is top notch. Level design and boss fights are spectacular. The music is fantastic. This gameis amongst the pinnacle of 2-D sidescrolling.I envy people like you GG. I would give almost anythingto be able to play this game again for the FIRSTtime. You're in for a real treat. ;)

It's really labyrinthine and you need pencil and paper to draw your own map if you don't have an amazing memory. Same is true for Metroid 2 for the original gameboy, only that has aged somewhat better. Now Super Metroid is amazing and can hold its own to this day and I can't wait to get it on the Virtual Console, but (I know a lot will hate me for saying this) I actually think that the 2 gba games (Fusion and Zero Mission) have improved on what was already great about Super Metroid. I wish there was a new 2D for DS Metroid in the works as opposed to vaporware like Metroid Dread

I'll back you up on that.  Fusion and Zero mission were pretty rad.  Sadly I lost my copy of Fusion before I could beat it, but it was pretty dang cool.

I might be wrong, but sadly for Wii gamers, I really wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. Whatever happens, I'm curious to see which one is released first.

Super Metroid was my first Metroid game and by far it's my favorite one. I lost count at how many times I played through it all these years, but it's one of those few old games that I still play today. I loved the graphics, the music really set the mood, and I really enjoyed all the creepy looking boss fights. I've enjoyed most of the other Metroid games, but in my opinion, none of them absorbed me into the game as much as this one (Well, Metroid Prime came close).
The most atmospheric 2d game I've ever played. It really gave you a sense of being alone on an alien planet. The music....still my favorite game music of all time. Graphics that took the snes to it's limits and beyond. You must get it! :D
Super Metroid was the first Metroid game I played and I loved every minute of it. I still think it's by far the best in the series (may have to do with nostaglia too ;) ). I've been waiting for it eversince the VC launched and Nintendo still hasn't made with the goods yet. It's one of the few reasons why I own a Wii (my SNES broke down). If you've never played Super Metroid before, the best part - by far - is the final boss battle. It was one of the first videogame scenes to actually make me feel sad. It also helps a bit if you've played Metroid 1 and 2 prior to Super Metroid because it does make reference to them.
