whats the reason of this momentus moment ?games have had them since i can remember and i've always wondered.Reason for press start screen?
to start the game.Reason for press start screen?
for the awesome opening music *coughcough* Fire Emblem *coughcough*
its a rule. It has to be in at least 1 in 5 games or the world will implode.
whats the reason of this momentus moment ?games have had them since i can remember and i've always wondered.
I know that in some games, it's to calibrate controller numbers, ie. whichever controller you click start with, is the main one for the rest of the gaming session, as in, that controller will take control of menu options.

What games?
That makes perfect sense. I just thought it was to build an epic title screen (ex. Oblivion)
Demo mode.
so if you leave it there long enough you get to see a sweet video
I always thought it was incase you hit power, then run to get a drink, and the game loads before you get back. An similar situations.
I'd imagine that the start screen is a hold over from the old arcade games where it would lock in your coins as soon as you hit the start button, thus making a refund impossible and commiting you to the game. That's my take at least.
