Rumour Bombshell for Smash Brothers: Sonic, Rayman, KK Slider

GamedailyFor months, Nintendo and Sega hinted at putting Sonic the Hedgehog into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Well, it appears an EB Games in Woodbridge Center, NJ, leaked the news. An ad for the upcoming fighter, featuring professional looking box art, prominently displays the blue blur on its cover, along with clas-sic Nintendo characters Birdo (Super Mario Bros. 2) and K.K. Slider (Animal Crossing), among others. As we snapped this picture, a store employee quickly denounced the box art as a simple mock-up. If that's true, the company has a lot of explaining to do, especially to customers that preordered the game thinking they can play as Sonic. That is, of course, unless EBGames/Gamestop knows something the rest of the world doesn't.Retailers create mock-ups all the time, but most if not all of them look crude and unprofessional. This looks somewhat legit, especially with the E10+ ESRB rating (the ESRB's Web site doesn't feature a listing for this game). Conspicuous by its absence, unfortunately, is the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo, meaning Super Smash Bros. Brawl may ship without online play. This comes on the heels of last week's unveiling of the side-scrolling adventure mode The Subspace Emissary.EDIT: Best Buy canada seems to have their own advertising in place...Rumour Bombshell for Smash Brothers: Sonic, Rayman, KK Slider
Of course Sonic's in the game, Tails probably is too, but they are going to keep it quet to maintain the buzz. I wouldn't be suprised to see a FF: CC either.Rumour Bombshell for Smash Brothers: Sonic, Rayman, KK Slider
Interesting. SSBM was rated T, and this will be rated E-10+? Guess, we'll see if it is truly real.
so no online then? *curses loudly*
so no online then? *curses loudly*
Would like to remind you that most likely this is just a company mock-up. I have a feeling that the game hasn't been sent to the ESRB to be rated yet, given that its release date is still a ways away.

This means nothing. We should know by now not to trust anything that's said or displayed by a retailer unless a publisher confirms it.
This means nothing. We should know by now not to trust anything that's said or displayed by a retailer unless a publisher confirms it.
Yeah, Look at the top of the box art, it is the wrong Wii Logo design.Although I still believe Sonic is in the game though.
As much as the inclusion of Rayman would be a pleasant surprise, the exclusion of online would be as much a disastrous disappointment. Seriously, why should I buy this game if it doesn't have online? I might as well stick to Melee. There's no way I'm getting this game if they go back on their promise to bring Brawl online.
oh come on! how could you fall for that? The box doesn't have the correct Wii logo at the top, and the images for characters are from different games. Why would Brawl not change Ness and Captain Falcon's character model since Melee, and why are Sonic and Samus's pictures from different games? Why is Fox's image from Assault? Why is DK's picture from Jungle Beat? Why are Bowser Jr, Birdo, KK, and Petey's images from concept art? Why would anyone expect Rayman to get in over the likes of Megaman, Bomberman, or even Geno? And where's Ike, Zelda, Bowser, Peach, and Yoshi? And finally, how can ESRB rate an unfinished game?answer to all that: It's just a mock-up by lazy Gamestop/EB Games employees; although it does feel like I've seen this a long time ago. plus, there's this
That's why it's a rumour Ksmoove. :) We already know that it was mocked up for promotional purposes. Best buy having sonic in its promotions hints that they know he's coming. And Ubisoft have been one of the wii's biggest supporters. So we know that snake is there, that's konami covered, Sonic for sega and so why not others for other pusblishers?
It'll be war! Sonic vs. Mario - finally!
That box art is definitely fake; I've seen it before... but why are retailers using it? Teh conspiracy!!!11!!11!1!
Thats it I consider Sonic as being confirmed already. *clears throat*WOOHOO!!!!!!! Everytime someone chooses Mario I will pick Sonic and hunt them down, it will be like a blue Terminator.

I thought that first pic was already confirmed as just a photoshop job since the game doesn't have a rating yet, but it's showing a E 10+ rating (which would be suspect anyway since Melee was rated T).

Smash Brothers has all the gritty violence of a Looney Toons episode.

I shoulda known you're too smart to believe such rumors. Don't take this personally, but I think you're one of the most respectable users on here, especially when you look at all the morons in SW.

Until a game is rated by the ESRB they can only show a ''RATING PENDING'' symbol if they choose to show any at all. Brawl has not been submitted for a rating yet, therefore the fact that any rating is shown at all screams bogus.
