Does anybody else here find games like Resident Evil hard?

I have been playing Resident Evil 1 on my Nintendo DS, and I have noticed how poor my skills are at this game. I can play games like Metroid Prime: Hunters, Ninja Gaiden, Halo, Farcry and Gears of War with less frusturation than I am having with Resident Evil. I have been wondering why Resident Evil is so hard for me, while some other similar games are much easier. So far, this is what I can see:1) Resident Evil appears to be hard because there is never a good supply of health-recovery items. Even if you take small amounts of damage, you can still run out of healing items becuse they are so rare to come across. Compare this to Gears of War, where you can regenerate your health simply by letting time pass.2) Resdient Evil also gives your character a small supply of ammunition for your guns. This means you have to rely on your knife alot. Oh, and the character swings the knife pretty slow, so there is always enough time for a zombie to attack you while you are swinging your arm. 90% of my deaths occur becaue of this problem. Either use my knife and die, or use my pistol and run out of ammo. Either way, I'm helpless.I personally don't like games with strictlylimited ammo supply. Compare this game with Quake, where ammunition is plentiful.Over-all, my skills are best in RPG games, platformers, and sometimes even in puzzle games. I rarely find myself too talented in action games and in modern shooting games (I am extremely skilled in Doom 2, however). You thoughts? Have you ever discovered anything similar of yourself?Does anybody else here find games like Resident Evil hard?
Well of course all those things you mentioned are supposed to make it hard I remember when it first came out it took me a while to get the hang of it, but I finally beat it it was quite a rewarding game expierience after I finished it I was very happy.Does anybody else here find games like Resident Evil hard?
you just described the survival horror genre perfectly. theres a reason it's called Survival Horror, you're not supposed to have a crap load of ammo, and healing items, you're supposed to think about you're suroundings, and think about the future in the game (IE: don't use a gernade launcher on a regular zombie because you might face a Tyrant later on). personally i wish RE would go back to this style.
RE4 wasnt hard because it had plenty of ammo and was the least scariest:) But yeah I get what youre saying. RE for GC was crazy! Didnt know where I was going since it was so dark, had little ammo, tough enemies, and super scary so I could go door to door right away.
The secret to Resident Evil is to use the knife for alot of the game... apart from REmake and RE4

The games are easy

Plus i have been playing them since the first Resident evil when i was 5 or 6
Feh. After you're able to get past level 3 on Battle Toads you'll never call any other game hard again.
I remember res evil1 was very hard for the psx. You could never find herbs or ammo nad you only had like three spaces:
Feh. After you're able to get past level 3 on Battle Toads you'll never call any other game hard again.
Was that the level where you had to ride on the bikes dodging/jumping over walls?Anyway, yeah, I find RE games to be pretty hard and I suck majorly at them. I have beaten RE2 and enjoyed in the N64, but I also have RE:CV and the original for the Saturn and haven't beaten them. In fact, I haven't gotten very far because I'm so terrible. And I couldn't play RE4 because of the terrible controls. Really Capcom, people can walk and shoot at the same time...and by the way, there was a second analog...use it.
I find games like NG and DMC 3 brutally hard, but I don't consider games like RE 4 to be that difficult. I tend to carry over my RPG mindset, so I'm VERY stingy when it comes to using ammo and healing items, and if I don't perform well enough in a particular area, I'll likely reload. It'll probably take me a lot longer to play - it took me like 23 hours to beat RE 4 - but I'll finish with a good score and a flush inventory. LOL
Overall, RE doesn't present much difficulty. REmake was rough in the early going, but got laughably easy by the last leg of the game.
I know what you mean, but the hardest thing for me was the puzzles. I used to spend ages trying to solve puzzles in RE2, it got a bit annoying after a while (although I eventually passed them), but the atmosphere was amazing. You always felt so vulnerable.Resident Evil 4 is easier though(It contained few puzzles and most of them were very, VERY simple) but it is still a phenomenal game.

noooooooo
REmake here. BIG difference between RE4 and REmake.Remake was hard for me because mostly the fear. I didn't want to enter that room because of that zombie. But really, all you need to do is just run. Don't knife em, don't shoot em, just run. Zombie coming out of the closet? Do a 180 and get out of the door.I beat the game on normal jill and it wasn't too hard.Just um piece together the clues, master the 180 and run through areas.

All i can tell you is stay the hell away from REmake. And if you play Rebirth you will not need to think about ammo at all compared to any other RE game.
Indeed with most Resident Evil games, you might as well try and hug a zombie rather than use a knife. I think that's what made the Resident Evil game before the fourth hard. You had to choose which weapon to use wisely and to conserve. Plus, the games became much harder when everyone tried going for the unlimited special weapons. No saves, no first-aid sprays, no dying, and the need to complete it in a certain amount of time became a strenuous task, especially in Code: Veronica since the game was so long to begin with.
I think that the resi's before 4 were very hard but 4 sorta ruined the series for me. I mean the controls are great but why not have regular zombies, imagine having loads of slow zombies shambling around you but they have kinda destroyed the story for me with the fact that these parasites were fossilized under a castle. This takes away from the realism of the story in my opinion. Thats one of the things that I loved about it not to mention the fact that there is an abandond mansion that is across from my house, and my name is Chris and my younger sister is Claire.Well I've kinda went off on a tangent so rant over good day!
The only one that I found to be more on the HARD side, would be Resident Evil 1remake.I remember thinking it would be easy as hell, since it was just a remake of a game I've played many times. As it turned out, I nearly had to start over at one point. I was stuck with no ammo and no healing items, and my health guage was on REDLINE. I had to try to make it through like 5 tough areas with the knife before I could get any ammo or health.Other than that, I wouldn't say the games were HARD. But they've always had a satisfying difficulty level, at least to me. The kind of difficulty where, you may die here and there, but have no problems on your 2nd try.
