well people need to realize that 1million is an inflated number that doesnt necesarrily reflect the actual numbers of gamers who will be there to purchase the game on day one.let me explain.i was a manager at an EB games. we had a weekly conference call with corporate. in these calls we were yelled at or honored for our preorder targets being met or missed or even surpassed. for example....
there is a quota set for ''large release'' games like halo and madden etc. etc.these goals go from say 35 -100 preorders. if you meet or exceed...great! if not then your up #%$^ creek!so after these calls we would then be called from our regional manager. he would tell us either get these preorder numbers or someones getting fired....do what you have to do...i dont care if you have to make preorders yourself....just get the numbers!!so i would take fifty dollars ofmy own money and do 10 preorders under assumed names ( family, friends and even made up names like ingmar habbersham)then when a customer would come in who looks clueless...and had some trade ins...id look them over find a game worth like 20-30 for trade in....tell them it was only worth 3 dollars and offer them five...in cash. then when they leave i would trade the game in for store credit or in extreme situations id return it as new/defective for full retail price....and then do preorders for our goal gamesremember, we had to keep people from being fired...the gamestore business is very cutthroat!this is why, when i see a games preorder numbers i just laugh......we had a huge number of preorders for halo2.....we got like 200 copies in store preordered, and after the midnihgt release, and for a solid week we had 150 actual unopened un picked up preorder copies behind the desk in a box, that eventually got gutted and set out for displaysmicrosoft pays gamestop/EB very well for preorders....and there is big pressure to get preorders at any cost.....keep it all in perspectivewhy halo 3's preorders arent such a big deal!
Dude, I'm not sure it's such a wise thing to post what is tantamount to theft on these forums...why halo 3's preorders arent such a big deal!
Um didn't you already post this in the other thread so does it really need it's own thread.BTW weren't you the GS poster previously known as flood?
its not theft. it called using the system. there isnt one gamestore clerk who hasnt had to do the very same thing, if they say they havent, they are lying.this is what happens when jobs are threatened by regionals, who are presured by corporate, who are then pressured by game companies who have given money to assure a certain preorder amount. it all rolls down hill to the guy getting 13.50 an hour and gets his job threatened every 2 days....who has a mcdonalds application posted on his stockroom door by his regional to remind him of where he can always go if he cant met his goals.the reality is...abusing the sytem isnt very moral, but neither is threatening someones way of life over preorder numbers.i havent managed a gamestore in over 3 years....the cloud of impending doom was far too much for me to deal with anymore.

Yeah I remembered seeing your PSN ID before and the familarity just caught my eye.
It is ttheft. You're not giving the customer the assigned value of the games so you can cash in. It's fraud! Please don't post this again.
