Hmm cool. I never got around to playing Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube but if this one gets similar reviews when it gets released here I certainly wouldn't mind checking it out.Famitsu Scores: Huzzah! Crystal Chronicles (DS) scores big, aww yeah
I don't care about what Famitsu says, but thanks for showing the trailers. This game seems to have all 3 of my gameplay categories in it. You have your RPG hacking and slashing. You then have your physical platforming. Finally, you have puzzle solving. It seems to be a complete game.I wonder how coop will be done with this. Can you go on all the levels with up to 3 people I hope? Can it be anybody? Or do you HAVE to use friend codes?
I absolutely hated the first Crystal Chronicles; the combat system annoyed me to no end and the chalice, although it fit into the story, was nothing more than a burden. However, I think the next two for the DS and Wii are supposed to be different, so that could be a good thing. All the same, I'd like to know what Famitsu scored the first one (they tend to score their Japanese games higher than others, anyway.)
Does CCDS also require $$$ worth of hardware and 4 friends to enjoy the game? If not, I might look into it... that's what kept me from getting the GC version.
Does CCDS also require $$$ worth of hardware and 4 friends to enjoy the game? If not, I might look into it... that's what kept me from getting the GC version.
Well, multiplayer does require more than one DS, but I believe it is online, so...
FFCC is already it out in Japan? Man, we get it summer next year! Hate the wait. But it looks like it's shaping up to be pretty good. I do remember Square-Enix saying that they focused more on the single player mode, so hopefully these scores is a good sign of that. And no more miasma limiting freedom of exploration. The DS makes this possible, so I guess just for that alone, the DS platform was made forCrystal Chronicles. It's a match made in Square-Enix heaven.
FFCC wasn't your typical FF game. That's why it had a CC on it. People had the wrong expectations for the game and because of that, THEY were disappointed. The game was what the game was.Anyway, FFCC was a great game because it delivered on what it set out to do. You have a multiplayer mode. If you don't like it, THEN DON'T PLAY IT. FFCC isn't going to force you to buy the GBAs. It's just a mode. You can still play singleplayer. It's like complaining that WoW is a MMORPG.
And as a singleplayer game, you could go through a dozen dungeons, hack at stuff, get items and get stronger. But yea, that's what FFCC is about.Anyway, the new FFCC on the Wii is singleplayer only, which means I probably won't buy it. The DS FFCC... well it says it's online and it surprisingly has platforming added to it along with RPG and puzzle-solving elements. Looks interesting, but I don't have a DS.
Reviews gave the GameCube game good scores, too (no idea about Famitsu). And yes I will complain about the game's combat system (chop, move away, pause, attack again. Repeat). I'll also complain about playing the same freaking levels 10 times over. Apparently it set out to suck.
Maybe the DS game will have fixed the battle system.
Complain about the combat system... Okay, then you might as well complain about Gauntlet Legends, Dynasty Warriors, X-men Legends, Phantasy Star Online and Diablo 2, because they all come down to hacking and slashing at the same dumb AI monsters. Hell, you might as well condemn RPGs. If it weren't repetitive slashing, it wouldn't be an RPG. You are talking as if FFCC started this trend. As for the same levels, So long as the game is good, I can stand playing the same levels. That's why people always choose dust, aztec, dust2 on CS.
