i'm really sick of console upgrades and the early adopter argument...

if we wanted to update hardware constantly, we would be pc gamers and not console ones.  i am a marketing major, and i know that early adopters should be rewarded, not penalized, for taking risks on trying new products and brand loyalty.  microsoft's upgrading the priuce cut 360 premiums with hdmi and the 65 nm chips is really a blow to microsoft loyalists.  i know they have the money, they now need to work on something called customer retention.
i am highly considering selling my 360 to a friend and buying a ps3 (halo 3 and cod 4 and madden are basically holding me hostage from doing this).  and i am not pleased with the ps3 changing its sku's either.  i know as soon as i go out and buy the 60 gb, new rumbleaxis controllers will come bundled with the rumored 40 gb sku!  it used to be simply about liking mario or sonic.. things have really gotten out of hand...i'm really sick of console upgrades and the early adopter argument...
It still is about ''Mario and Sonic'', you're the one making it about hardware upgrades. Someone else getting a HDMI port or a smaller chipset in their 360 won't stop me from enjoying all the games I bought the system for.i'm really sick of console upgrades and the early adopter argument...
1st of all, don't get rid of your 360. regardless of Business ethics, the 360 is still a great console with great games to be played on it.I do agree that it sucks that Early adopters get screwed but thats the way it has been since the beginning. I was really mad when new PS3 buyers were able to get 5 free bluray movies 6 months after launch but I got only Taladega Nights for buying a PS3 on day one. I got flamed a few months ago on the 1UP boards for complaining about it.
The new sku's don't matter much because they are mostly priced higher. As far as New components going into the premium, The PS2 did that a lot. there were a few original PS2 refines before the slim was released. The bottom line is that Early adopters get the System early and they get to play the games early. Just don't get rid of the 360 because of it because there are great games on the horizon that the PS3 will never get.
Can you give examples of how it is common practice to ''reward'' early adopters in other industries? For example DVD players, HDTV's, and Video Camcorders. How were early adopters in those products ''rewarded''? How were early adopters of the PS2 ''rewarded''? Will future 360 games still work on your machine? Yes? Then you have nothing to complain about. If updates suprise you you have not been paying attention to how the economy works.
paying for new technology is one thing..  it is my opinion that console design should be done beforehand, not after releases.  i am very surprised microsof has not faced a class action suit yet.  they simply have sugarcoated the rrod issue with a weak warranty policy.
look i am a big 360 fan and i only get so mad about this bc i did a lot of research and trusted microsoft.  i eagerly await halo 3 and still feel as of now the 360 offers the superior gaming experience.. i just would love to play it without feeling bad i purchased it last may thinking the problems were already worked out.. in the meanitme i have played gears, r6 vegas, etc and loved the experience.
