Should I play Max Payne?

Do I have to have played the first one for the seconds story to make sense? And has the First/Second max payne stood the test of time because my friend was going to lend me his copys and I was wondering if they were both still good games. PS my friends name is Tor, he really likes to play with his dog rent :) *cough*

Stupidest cover ever, anyway, I found the Max Payne games highly enjoyable, and they do have a certain amount of replay, with the extra modes available.
I'm pretty sure there is an underlying story between the 1st and 2nd games, so you should play them after the other. The story is pretty good, in my opinion anyway, so it's worth going through them. The presentation of the story was a highlight when the game was released, using the comic-strip presentation to depict the story.
Play both of them in order.
yeah i got the game lendy message idk if anybody else did lol, i to have a friend like that.but i havnt played 2 but 1 was pretty kool.
I actually played the second one before the first one. I didn't have an problems. You should play both though. Two of the better mature-themed games ever.
I've only clocked the second game, not the first. And I absolutely loved it. So go for it ;)
Great gameplay but I hated the settings in both, so dark and depressing. Always raining, always night. Made me want to slit my wrists in slow motion.And the shows on those tv's in the game were extremely disturbing.

Word. Play them, the second one is better than the first one, but the first one is excellent, creepy though, but excellent.....I should actually re buy them...
Play 'em in order, there is an underlying story, I'm sure.

play in oder it makes more sense and the gameplay is well worth playing even now
Ah yes, the Max Payne games are personal favorites of mine, definitely worth picking them up.

i only played the second one and it was really good try it out
